Capital One Investing offers online & mobile trading of stocks. Through research, we saw a compelling spike in tablet usage. There was a growing need (and expectation) from our customers for us to offer a tablet application with ways to research and trade stocks.
We decided to move forward with a dashboard navigation using modules as the primary path to sections of the app. We added a secondary navigation menu to provide paths to additional sections of the app. The goal for each module was to keep it simplified so it's data can be consumed at first glance. Tapping the expand icon would navigate the user to it’s corresponding page with expanded views/details for that section.
Users can add, delete, and re-arrange modules on their dashboard by tapping the “add” module. Here, you enter a dashboard edit state where you can drag and drop to replace modules on your dashboard, drag to re-arrange, or delete modules from your dashboard.
I was one of two lead designers responsible for the end to end experience & interaction design. We began with competitive analysis & concept sketches, moved onward to wireframes, prototypes, & testing, and finished with the final visual design.
